Won by a length and a-quarter, in lmin lo'/istc. Pride of Murillo quickly went to the front, where Sylvander took the lead. Melotic then appeared out of the ruck. The leader in a few strides won comfortably, a neck separating second end third.
BA6OT HANDICAP. Received 1, II pjn. Melbourne, January 1. In the Bagot Handicap the placed horses were: Orvieto 1, Prince Harold 2. Simond's Fortune 3. There were eight starters. Prince Harold made the nace in the straight. Orvieto put in a great finish and won by a neck, three lengths between second and third. Time,2min 39sec. STANDISH HANDICAP. Sydney, January 1. In Tattersall's Club Cup the placed horses were: Son of Marsh 1, Olive Green 2, Bawbee 3. There were twelve starters, including Chaste. Sandbaith led out, followed by Electric Wire, Son of Marsh and Chaste. At the mile they were in the same order, Sandbath a clear in front, which was increased to i'.'D lengths along the hack. Rounding the bend Son of Marsh bounded ahead, Sandbath, Crown Derby and Chaste following in that order. Entering the straight Son of Marsh led, Olive Green, Bawbee.
