Notices have been posted in all mills in North and North-east Lancashire that they will close to-night. The Spinners' Federation has decided to curtail production by three days weekly. The Daily News questions the wisdom of the unions in calling on capitalists practically to enforce union discipline, instead of trusting to esprit de corps. It is believed the cotton trade lockout will be of short duration, owing to the disproportion between the cause and its effect. THE TAXI-CAB DISPUTE. Received 28, 0.50 p.m. London, December 28. The Arbitration Court will settle the taxi-cab drivers' conditions of service. THE STRIKE AT LLANELLY. Received 28, 9.50 p.m. London, December 28. The strikers at Llanelly ask for arbitration regarding the recognition of the union.
