AUSTRALASIAN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. SOME RECORDS BROKEN. NEW ZEALAND RETAINS THE BANNER. KERR'S BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Niglit. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS. New Zealand 10 Victoria 2 Queensland 2 New South Wales 1 The Australasian Amateur Athletic Championships meeting was brought to a close to-day in fine weather. The attendance was about two thousand. Records were broken during the afternoon by H. Kerr, who covered the threemile walk in 21min. 3fi 3-ssec., beating his own previous championship record of 22min. 2 2-ssec., and Wilson's record of 21min. 37sec. G. N. Hill put up a fine performance in the two-mile flat handicap, beating the record he created on Friday last byj 6 l-ssec., and the New Zealand record] by 12sec. 1 L. H, Kelly broke his own record of, 6ft. in the high jump handicap by clearing 6ft. 1 3-16 in., which is the Australasian amateur record. John Brake lowered L. McKay's standrml in the pole jump, clearing 10ft. 9in. This event took nearly an hour and a half to decide, and could be abandoned with advantage. Opie and Keddell were again successful. Neither were pushed overmuch to secure victory. Southee, New South Wales, put up a good performance in the running broad jump, covering 22ft. iy 2 in. Results:— THREE MILE FLAT CHAMPIONSHIP.
