ROYAL LIFE SAVING SOCIETY
LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE. Mr. W. Lints, who is well known in the swimming world here, has been appointed local representative of the Royal Life Saving Society, which has its New Zealand head centre at Wanganui.
The work of honorary representatives and l organisers embraces the following: Making the aims, objects, and operations of the society a,s widely and publicly known as possible; endeavoring to obtain members and subscriptions towards the cost' of management; using their influence with swimming clubs, local authorities, schools, etc., to promote classes of instruction in life saving and resuscitation of the apparently drowned; inducing swimming clubs and kindred institutions to affiliate with the society, and to facilitate the promotion of classes of instruction, public lectures and demonstrations; reporting all cases of individual and collective effort calculated to promote the objects of the society; furnishing particulars and report upon any questions that may be submitted to them; assisting in the conduot
of examinations, seeing that all tile con-, ditions are observed, and recommending ladies and gentlemen who would be suitable examiners. It is necessary, however, that those recommended for this position shall hold the bronze medallion. And. lastly, to generally act As the local agent of the society.
