CHEAT DRAMATIC PRODUCTION' IN LONDON*. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, December 24. Herr Reinhardt's "Miracle" was produced last night at the Olympia Theatre, which was transformed into a Gothic cathedral. It was a remarkable spectacle. Hundreds of actors and two thousand supernumaries were engaged.
Olympia is just now undergoing another big transformation. It is in the hands of workmen, who are making preparations for Herr Reinhardt's new production on Christmas Eve (wrote a London contemporary in August.) From the dog days to Christmas Eve is. of course, a long cry; still it is none too long in which to complete the arrangements for such a spectacle as this promises to be. Not only will Herr Reinhardt put his best into it. but tho.e other specialists in their respective ways. Herr Stern and Herr Enslebert Humperdinck. are making themselves responsible for the scenery and imi-io. "It Is to be ;; wordles* dramatic spectacle of an extremely serious nature, and will be the largest of its kind ever seen in London or elsewhere," said he. "No fewer than 2000 actors and actresses will take part in it, and the whole of it will take place in the arena, to that although the seating accommodation will provide for 10.000 people, everyone will be able to see all that goes on. The whole thing will be continuous, the entrances and exits being •o arranged as to obviate a single break." The spectacle is dated in the twelfth century, and the scene is laid in {thineland. The actors will all be diosen personally by Herr Reinhardt himself. The leading part is to be taken a woman, who will have to combine pergonal beauty with pantomimic genius. But this part, like others, will be allotted to whoever is deemed the most fit. irrespective of nationality. Over £20,000 will be spent upon the production.
