A Sydney cable reports the death of Mr. Green, M.L.C., one of the largest wheat growers in the State. A London cablegram states that Sir F. Casael has given a London hospital £50,000 as a memorial to his late daughter.
A Berlin cablegram states that Dr. Solf, late German consul at Samoa, has been appointed Secretary for the Colonies.
Utiku Maru Maru, a well-known Rangitikei chief, died at Parawanui on Sunday evening. Dr. Pomare had been attending the deceased during the last two days of his illness. Utiku Maru Maru was about 53 years of ago.
The death of the Veil. William Frederic Tucker, Archdeacon of Ballarat since 1008, was reported in a Press Association cable message received yesterday. Born in England in ISoO, he reached Australia in 1881. He was Canon of North QueensA Press Association cable message received from Sydney stated that the remains of the late Mr. Harry Rickards {the well-known vaudeville entrepreneur), which had been brought from England, were buried at the Waverley cemetery. There was a large cortege, Mid many floral tributes were sent.
