A sheep-shearing contest took place at Lester, for the machine championship •of Australia and a €W<> stake, competitors to shear ton sheep each. There were six contestants from various States, including J. Breman, of New Zealand. The latter was l>eaten in his heat bv Ross, of Victoria, who cut out 2y, sheep ahead of him. The final was between F. Breman, of "•gouth Australia, and Ross. The'former finished in 23min. 51 l-ssec. and Ross in 24min. 12sec.
