The weather was fine and hot for the conclusion of the match. There were only 100 present when the rrtatch was resumed. England wanted 175 runs to win, and had two wickets to fall when Douglas and Barnes faced Hordern and Cotter. Barnes quickly brought up double figures, driving Cotter to the boundary. Douglas, however, faced six overs without scoring before being bowled with a big leg break by Hordern. Strudwick scored a lucky four off Cotter by snicking through slips, followed a few balls later by splendidly cutting him to the track. When the total was 201, Hordern bowled Barnes.
