MINISTER AND A SCHOOL.

A TEACHER'S STATEMENT. At the Education Board meeting on Tuesday night, the chairman said he had received t-hc following letter in connection with the-Oeo school from the teacher. Mrs. M. A. Brereton, under da to November 22:—"To-day the Hon. Thos. Mackenzie, now Minister of Education, held a meeting here. Mr. Mudford, chairman of the School Committee, and I happened to lie discussing the prospective school and its non-appear-ance. The Hon. Thos. .Mackenzie told us to write to your Board and inform you that if you put in the application for a grant for the new school and residence at once, lie would pass it before (ho election. Might I urge upon the Board (he wisdom of doing so immediately on receipt of this ? We aro all. sutlering excessively from headaches for reasons before staled Mr. Hikaka is away just now, but I understand from what Mrs. llikaka tells me that she and her two sisters have signed the plan made by the surveyor, Mr. Stewart. Even if this be not so, the application for the grant must be made at once, and will be passed all the same; the Hon. T. Mackenzie said so."
