WRESTLING
.go TO-NIGHT AT THE THEATRE. We need not remind readers of the wrestling competitions that take place to-night in the Theatre Royal, because judging from the interest that is being taken, the building should be well, filled. Chief interest centres about the match for the amateur middle-weight championship of Taranaki. In Monday's issue we gave a resume of the career of the champion. We now append a few particulars of the challenger, E. W. Hine. He, like Urquhart, is comparatively a new hand at the game, having only taken to wrestling some two years ago. He has, however, had a successful career, as the following will show. He defeated Dick Brett, a heavy-weight, on November 9, 190K), with two straight falls; defeated W. Clover for the middle-weight ' c" mpionship of Taranaki, May 15, 1910, j?p.i;iing the first fall in lCmin., and the s >nd in 32min.; defeated James Baric.h, from West Coast, a prominent wrestler, in 26min.j wrestled a draw with Joe Gardner, the English light-weight champion, who was touring the Dominion, and has also other performances at sports meetings. There are four entries in the novice heavy-weight contest, viz., three from New Plymouth, and one from Toko. In the light-weight novice event two New Plymouth lads have entered. A good night's sport is ensured, and that it will be clean can be guaranteed as Mr. P. Skoglund, of Stratford, will referee. The Taranaki Garrison Band will render musical selections at intervals during the evening.
