Mr. Asquith, in the course of a reply to the National League deputation, said that if referendum of men alone was taken the women would resent the verdict. Personally, he was convinced the franchise for wopien was a mistake of a very disastrous kind. He felt it was time that those. holding strong views should take off their coats and put the ca-e against women's suffrage cogently before the public.
