EN' TIIE UNITED STATES. By Cabl<>—Press Association—Copyright. New York, December 13. Canaries utilised in the Gross Mountain mine showed that the deadly gases were strong. 'A few more bodies have been recovered. The fire in the mine at Riceville broke out a second time and hope has been abandoned of rescuing the remaining miners. Numerous messages were found scrawled on the walls of the mine, indicating that the man had been driven further in because of the fatal gas. Thirty-eight bodies have been recovered.
