ST. AUBYN TOWN BOARD

The monthly meeting of the St. Aubyn Town. Board was held on Tuesday night. There were present: Messrs. G.' E. Blanchard (chairman), W. J. Russell, H. Putt, and P. Ltsaland. A letter was received from Mr. Goldwoter asking for a rebate on rates, as his house- was burnt down last February. —No notice having been given, the board could not acknowledge it. A letter was pcad from the Taranaki county clerk re particulars of special loans in respect of which special rates had been made over a part area which was merged into the St. Aubyn Town District on May 31, 1910.—Mr. Fleetwood luad replied that his board objected, as the Taranaki Council had not furnished a plan showing the sections and part sections forming part of the special rating district—which were now within the St. Aubyn Town Districtas required by regulation.—A reply was received .to this letter from the county clerk, stating that a mistake had been made in placing the special rating area at £94,002. This referred to the whole of the St. Aubyn Town Board area.— This was referred back again, as the plan had not been furnished. A letter was received from the County Council stating that the St. Aubyn district was assessed for special bridge loan at £667 7s od.—The matter has been referred to the Valuer-General for information,

Th» board has put in a preliminary application for a loan of £7500 for forming and remetalling streets and kerbing and making footpaths in the town district. It was decided to call for tenders for 000 yards of metal for the South Toad. The dog-tax was fixed at 2s (id for sheep and cattle dogs and 5s for other dogs if paid by March 31, or after that date 7s Gd. E. Saville was appointed collector.
