There is good demand for choicest. Australian salted and unsalted 126s to 128s, secondaries 120s to 1245; choicest New Zealand 128s to 130s; Argentine 126s to 128s. Cheese.—Firm; New Zealand, 08s to 09s. Wool.—At the sales the Castle clip brought, top price lOd, average 01/^.O 1 /^. Wheat—For South Australian loading 36s to 36s fid is asked, 36s at three ports January-February shipments; 35s 9d for Victorian and South Australian off coast; 35s 6d is bid for a New Sou til Wales August shipment, and 35s paid for parcels three ports, December shipment. There is better inquiry for Australian spot at 37s 6d. Flour.—Firm. Oats. -Steady. A La Plata December shipment 16s 3d. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY'S REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Stratford branch, reports: We held our last springing heifer sale of the season 011 Saturday, December 2. in our Stratford yards, when there were about 50 heifers and cows yarded, all of which realised good prices' under fairly keen demand. Ileifers, fair to medium quality, 105s; better sorts, well growi, 162s fid; cows, from 115s to 167s 6d:' good Jersey quality, up to 200s was realised. Wo held another combined sale, in our Stratford yards 011 Tuesday, sth inst., when there was a total yarding of 1952' head' of cattle. There was a very large attendance of buyers. Prices realised were as follows:—Yearling heifers, 55s to (iSs Od for Jersey Holstein cross; yearling steers, 42s to 595; mixed yearlings, small, 43s 6d; empty heifers, 73s J to 2-year-old heifers, fair quality up to 955; bulls, 44s to 10»s; store cows 42s to 70s; forward cows (for which here was a good demand), 93s to 97s fidfat cows, front 100s to) 110s; dairy heifers, from 97s fid to 112s 6d. We held our Ivohuratahi sale (which was postponed from the Ist inst.) on Friday, Bth inst., when there was a fair yarding of 335 cattle and SI sheep. There was a fairly good attendance. Prices were up to the usual standard, and were as follows:—Yearling steers. »4s to 59s 6d; yearling to lo months heifers, ;>4s; 2-ycar-old steers, up to 86s 6.1; forward cows, to 90s; cows and calves, to Ols-j fat ewes, 12s. LONDON W 7 OOL SALES. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received cabled advice from their head office, dated December 7. as follows: W 00l Sales.—Sales continue very firm Wool in general par to 5 per cent: higher, but the demand for America, fine and medium quality crossbreds and all crossbred wools suitable for America arc 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, higher as compared with the closing rates of the oeptembcr series. frozen Meat. Market is quiet. Mutton and lamb are unchanged. Beef is Vs<A per lb. higher since our last cable. Tallow. >Smce our last cable prices are 6d per cwt. lower, and there is more disposition on the part of buyers to do business at the decline.
