ARRIVAL OF IMMIGRANTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. The Tongariro arrived from London earl ythis morning, with 368 immigrants. She leaves for Dimedin this evening. A SCHOOL BURGLED. Cliristehmeh, Last Night. The Waltlmm Public School was burglariously entered for the fourth time on Thursday evening, and, after breaking the locks on no fewer than twelve doors and scattering books and papers about the tloor, the burglar, or burglars, secured a sum of money from one of the teacher's desks. These visitations have extended over some months. On the third occasion WOO rounds of ammunition and seven cadet rifles were stolen. The only clue so far is a footmark left by the burglar. A RESERVOIR BURSTS. Christchurch, Last Night. One half of the reservoir at Clifton, Sumner, burst yesterday afternoon, and about 150,000 gallons of water were lost. The force of the water hurled a piece of concrete weighing five tons down the hi'll for about two hundred yards. The bursting of the reservoir is attributed to faulty workmanship, and, according to the Mayor of Sumner, it will be necessary to have the whole of the reservoir rebuilt. MAGNETIC OBSERVATIONS. Christchurch, Saturday. At 4 o'clock this morning the British Antarctic ship Terra Nova left Lyttelton wharf and went out to sea to enable observations to be taken to obtain data for the correction of magnetic observations made while the vessel was in the Antarctic regions. There was a strong north-west gale blowing, and; the ship returned to the wharf at midday.
