MARCONI'S RIGHTS. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London, December 8. Marconi have withdrawn the Tclcfunken action and substituted another, including tin- infringement of the Lodge patents. Melbourne, December 9. Mr. Fraser announced that, after protrarted negotiations, the Government were unable to arrive at a position justifying the pavment of patent rights for either the Marconi or Telefunken wireless systems. The urgency of establishing a wireless system did not justify delaying it any longer. It intended to erect stations round the coast, beginning at Melbourne, then Hobart, and also connect with Port Moresby, either at Cooktown or Thursday Island. The Government might be compelled to defend the system which would be named Commonwealth. Its expert would register it. and if it was found that it had infringed other systems the Government would accept responsibility for the payment of such infringement.
