Viscount Morley. in replying to Lord Curzon with respect to Persia, said that the Imperial Government's policy was to maintain the Anglo-Russian Convention, and mediate benevolently. If Great Britain and Russia kept together, he believed that they would soon see a solution. It was not Russia's intention to support the ex-Shah, and Sir Edward Grey had warned Russia that it would be impossible for Britain, under any circumstances, to recognise him. AN APPEAL TO BRITAIN. Received 10. 5.5 p.m. London. December 10. Persia has appealed to the British Government to intervene diplomatically between Persia and Russia.
