The weather was hot and the wicket good for the match against an Australian eleven. There was an attendance of 5000. England opened disastrously, three ■ wickets fallinw for no runs, The de-1 fence of Kinnear and Douglas saved the side. Hearne also was sound. The scoring throughout was painfully slow. Sydney, December 8. The test' team will be chosen on Monday night. Crockett and Curran have been appointed umpires. The following will play for United Service this afternoon against Inglewood on the Sports Ground:—Dinniss, Bain, Girling, Goudie, Sullivan, Napier, Osborne, Reid, Weller, Gore, Ingram; emergency, Newall. The following will play for Law against Neiv Plymouth on the High School ground:—Lash Elliott, Bewley, Paton, Reid, Lawrey, Greatbatch, Ron Quilliam, Anderson, Harding, and another.
