KAURI TIMBER COMPANY.
THE PRICE OF BUTTER BOXES. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, December 8. At the annual meeting of the Kauri Timber Company the report was adopted. The chairman stated that since the close of the financial year the company had secured a fair quantity of fresh bush, which would absorb some of the cash in hand. Referring to tho recent alterations in the tariff, he said the effect would be to raise the price of butter boxes. As they were producing better grades for the butter business, they were compelled to make a large quantity of boxes suitable only for fruit cases. If the market for this class of ease was restricted, or taxed heavily, the price of the better classes would have to be raised to compensate for the loss on the lower grades. The outlook for the current year was encouraging. Good enquiries had come forward, and the business was expected to pay a half-yearly dividend in July.
