ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FOUND DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gore, Wednesday. A verdict of found drowned was returned at the inquest on Thomas Barrett, found in a dredging dam on Sunday. SUICIDE BY HANGING. Mastcrton, Last Night. Prideaux Tancred, well known in sporting circles, was found dead in a room of a house here this afternoon. He had a strap round his neck, and had evidently suicided some hours .before being found. Deceased was suffering from what he considered an incurable complaint, and had been in melancholy spirits - for some months. SUDDEN DEATH. Masterton, Last Night. A man named Grecnbank, a publican at Blairlogie Junction, died suddenly this afternoon on the road to Mastcrton. A FATAL FALL. Wellington, Last Night. Patrick Keegan, who was found lying at the foot of a ladder at the gasworks early on Sunday morning, and who was removed, to the hospital with a fractured skull, died to-dny. An inquest will be held to-morrow. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Wellington, Last Night. Yesterday, Archibald Buchanan, proprietor of the Ross Private Hotel, in Vivian street, was found in an outhouse at the back of the. building with his throat cut. Lying on the floor beside him was a razor and a penknife. From appearances, Buchanan had used the razor on himself. He-was attended by Dr. Gibhcs, and subsequently removed to tiie hospital. Very little hope is held out for his recovery.
