ARBITRATION COURT.

WELLINGTON PROCEEDINGS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Arbitration Court continued its special sitting to-day. Justice Sims presided, and on the Bench with Mm w r ere Messrs. It. Scott and J. A. McCullough, employers' and workers' representatives respectively. Further evidence was heard in the case in which Joseph William Jacob claimed compensation for injuries received while employed as custodian of the Marine Institute of Australasia. He claimed £1 weekly during his incapacity, or the lump sum of £209. The court reserved its decision. The tinplate and sheet metal workers' dispute was dealt with, as the conference held upon it had proved fruitless. The only matters really in dispute were wages, classification of workers, and preference. The court said it would consider the matter before giving an award*. The Furniture Trade Workers' Union applied that the recommendations of the Conciliation Council should be madie- into an award. The question of certain claims for exemption and other minor matters were discussed, and the court announced it would give its decision later. An adjournment was made till to-morrow.
