England gave a splendid defensive display, .but the scoring -w«a painfully slow. Mead and Rhodes were brilliant. The bowling was good, that of McLaren, Cook and 1 Hayes particularly. The fielding was also good. Queensland opened confidently, scoring freely. Jennings played splendidly. The bowling and fielding were, sound.. Scores:— ENGLAND—First Innings.
