At the trial of Moir, charged with murdering Trevascus, Constable Ramsay gave evidence that while Moir was detained in the Melbourne lock-up, he (Ramsay) asked him how lie got into this trouble. Moir replied, "I will tell you in confidence," and went on to state ; thet nn th" S:'t"rday before the murder ho met a man named Cordrien, and proposed to him to rob Trevascus. The morning of the murder he visited Tre- ] vascus and introduced Cordrien. When Trevascus' back was turned. Godrien hit him on the head with an iron bar. Tre- i vascus fell to the floor. Moir then went downstairs and borrowed a paper from a girl. He did this as a blind. He then left the building and watched till Cordrien came out. Cordrien gave Moir £25 of the £5 he got from Trevascus. He supposed Cordrien cut Trevascus' throat, but he did not see him. Before' the separation they agreed that if either ivas caught the other would not "soueak."
The police gave evidence that all efforts to trace Moir's alleged accomplice have been fruitless.
