THE UNSEASONABLE WEATHER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Tnvercafrgill, Last Niight. The rainfall statistics for the month make interesting reading. During November rain fell on 2<3 out of the 30 days, and the total fall was 7.81 inches. In November of last year there were only nine wet days, and the total was 1.12 inches. For the three winter months the figures were: May, 17 days, 1.98 in; June, 15 days, 2.25 in; July, 15 days, 2.97 in. November's rainfall is the heaviest recorded here for many years.
A DESERTER FROM THE AMOKURA. Christchurch, Thursday.
When an alleged deserter from the Amokura was .before the Magistrate's Court this moaning the question arose whether the Court had power to deal with the matter. It was stated that the commander of the vessel could deal with the offence in the first instance and a second offence could be dealt with by tho Minister. The Magistrate said he had communicated with the Secretary of .Marine, but had not received a reply. Xo action was therefore taken.
