OTAGO SHOW.
FIRST DAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The Otagio A. and P. Association's show opened to -day. The weather was fine but cold, and; a very strong wind prevailed, making matters very unpleasant for the spectators, of whom a fair number were present. The entries totalled 949, as against 905 last year. The decrease was confined to sheep and pigs. The following championships were awarded:— *
Cattle.—Jerseys: Bull and cow, He! Iyer (North East Harbor). Shorthorn bull, A. Chamberlain (Canterbury); cow, Canterbury Agricultural College. Polled Angu9 bull, John Douglass Trustee® (Palmerston); cow, Roberts and Co. (Middlemarch). Ayrshircs, bull, Raiikdn Bros. (Southland), aflso champion of show; cow, A. Gillies'(Hampden). Dairy cowi W. Strachdn (St. Kilda), Flat cattle, W. Charters (Mosgiel), Sheep.—Bonier Leicester, ram and ewe, Jas. Ross (Palmerston); English Leicester, ram and ©we, E. Kelland (Timaru). Lincoln, ram and ewe, JTiZ. and Agency Lamdi Co. Inbred halifbreds, ram and ewe N.Z. and Agency Land Co. Romney Marsh, ram, Ladbrook and Son (Charlton); ewe, T. L. BarnliiH (Lumsden). Horses.—Champion mare, Thomson nnd Co. (Waironga).
