RIFLE SHOOTING
WELLINGTON' RIFLE ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. An enthusiastic gathering of marksmen was held here this evening, when it was decided to form a Wellington Rifle Association for the purpose of holding a prize meeting at Trentham on New Year's Day and the day following. This step lias been taken, as the Garrison Association will not be able to conduct its usual New Year's meeting, on account of the changes taking place in the defence forces. The meeting will be open to all rifle clubsmen and territorials, and a prize list, on a scale hitherto unattempted„ will be provided, with a view to attracting entries from all parts of both islands. There will be six matches, and each will be a ten-shot event, the distances decided being 300. 600, SOO, !)0O and 1000 yards. There will be a champion teams match, seven shots at 300, 500 and GOO yards. A strong committee has been elected, and full details will be arranged at a subsequent meeting.
