TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") Local horse-owners made a move towards Feilding yesterday mferning, Mr. H. Eva going south with Uhlando and Highden, and Mr. R. Barlow with Golden Loop and Master Sylvia. The quartette bore a well-trained appearance, and have been responsible for good track work, so there is a likelihood of some of the Feilding stake-money coming to New Plymouth. Plantation was sent down to Feilding on Friday, and is reported to be galloping better than usual. The Canterbury trainer, 11. Cutts, arrived at Feilding on Saturday night with Avarice and Autumnus. The Feilding Stakes is considered to lie between Ermengarde and Autumnus, and whatever beats this pair will have to travel like the wind.
Rmiparaha is not nearly wound up, but his owner intends running the horse in the St. Andrew's Handicap on Wednesday. Goldfinder and Avarice appear to lie the most fancied ones for the big race.
R. Young will pilot Bliss in the Flying Handicap, and F. Flynn will probably ride Strathmoira in the hurdle races.
