Sydney, November 25. A fire in the main street in Canbelego destroyed eight shops and dwellings, and at one time the whole of the town was threatened. The absence of wind enabled the residents to confine the blaze to one block. The damage is estimated at £SOOO. MT. LYELL MINE. Melbourne, November 25. At the half-yearly meeting of the Mount Lyell Mining Company the chairman said he regretted that, owing to the. strike, they were unable to declare a dividend. The shareholders adopted a motion thanking the directors for the judgment shown in connection with the strike.
