THE INSURANCE BILL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, November 24. The Cork Free Press declares that a strong minority meeting of Nationalist members of Parliament voted for the inclusion of m-edjeal benefit in the clause of the Insurance Bill affecting I'eland. The difference almost amounts to a Party split.
The Times declares that if the House of Lords exercise the suspensory vote to enable the Insurance Bill to be reconsidered in 1012 the Government will withdraw the Bill and introduce noncontributorv insurance.
MEDICAL ASSOCIATION'S DECISION. Received 26, 6.5 p.m. London, November 25. At a meeting of the British Medical Association it was resolved that if the Insurance Bill is passed it will endeavor to arrange- satisfactory terms with the insurance committees of the counties. Failing this they will not work under the Bill. The Association decided to adhere to the 40s income limit, and declared the scale of remuneration, based on 6s per capita annually, is inadequate. The Times declares that most of the difficulties feft will be fought out after the Insurance Bill becomes law; hence the extraordinary powers conferred on the insurance commissioners.
THE SERVANTS' CLAUSES. Received 26, 5.5 p.m. London. November 25. Mr. Lloyd-George invited the Countess Degarte to bring a number of servants to the Treasury to discass the servants clauses of the Insurance Bill.
THE RAILWAY COMMISSION RpjYIRT London, Novemlver 25. The fact is commented' on that but for 65 Unionists supporting Mr. LloydGeorge's amendment to Mr. Ramsay Macdonald's motion with regard to the report of the Railway Commission, the Government would have been defeated, inasmuch as the minority included 71 Liberals, despite Mr. Lloyd-George's strenuous appeal for a unanimous response. A BY-ELECTION. London, November 24. At the by-election for the Hitchin division of Hertfordshire the voting was : Lord Robert Cecil (C.) 6542, T. T. Grey (L.) 3909.
