The Lands Department report of the ser settlement scheme to March 31 ' ")ws that 1356 farms, embracing '■ I/.396 acres, were selected, whereon 5000 persons are residing. The value of improvements is set down at £028,000. The estates acquired by the Government for closer settlement to June 30 last cost £2,513,000.
