SUPPOSED SUICIDE.
MR. TOM WOODAKD. A very well-known resident in tins musical world of Xew -Plymouth, in the person- of Mr. T. Wooda-i'd, died in the New Plymouth Hospital at a quarter to twelve last night under circumstance* which point strongly to a case of suicide.
The deceased, who was in the employ of Mr. Xewton King (is an accountant, was discovered by some members of the staff at about half-past two yesterday afternoon iin a room above the office of Mr. Xewton King's warehouse, Cmrie street, in a state of collapse. Near by was a bottle which had contained Jcyes llttid, and a cup. and lie had evidently used >the latter in drinking the Jeyes fluid. Dr. Wylie was at onde summoned and the stomach pump used. f Deceased, who was removed to the hospital, at first showed signs of improvement, but almost immediately afterwairds collapsed and died as stated. So far no cause can be assigned to account for the ra«li act. Deceased was in the hospital a few weeks ago for some slight operation to his knee, but appealed to have completely recovered and regained his usual health and good spirits. On the preceding day he was at the New Plymouth show, and his demeanour there was certainly not such as to lead one to Ibelieve that he contemplated sucli a step. He leaves a wife and one child. An inquest will be held, probably today.
