OIL LAUNCH CAPSIZED.
PLUCKY MAORI WOMAN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wa.nganui, Wednesday. the oil launch Benares, with a cargo of timber, coal and food supplies aboard, also a number of Maori pa e. sengers was capsized in a squall twentvone nules up the river yesterday The launch righted herself, but her nose was on a rock and her stern in deep water the deck being awash. Two Maori women and several children were aboard. One woman swam ashore, a distance of about two chains, with a rope, which she fastened to the cliff. She then swam back to the -launch, took the children ashore, and assisted the others to land But for her plucky -and prompt action loss of life would probably have occurred
