WORK AND WAGES.

TROUBLE AT TIMARU. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. In consequence of the shipping agents declining to meet the wharf workers in conference on the proposed new agreement, the men refused to continue this afternoon on boats in port, the Koromiko and' Waitemata, unless the conference were agreed to.. The agents then yielded. As some of the men had gone the rest decided not to resume till the morning. Some difference remained about the number of agents' representatives at the conference, the men appointing five, but this will probably be got over. The men propose a conference on Friday morning. Meantime work will be resumed to-mor-row.
