HOODLUMS AT RANGITATA.
-MISCHIEF AT A NO-LICENSE MEETING. fy Telejpph—Press Association. Ashburton, Last Night. The police are investigating some outrages at Rangitata. The Rev, 0. 11. Mann, of Geraldine, and the Revs. T. Woolloxall and F. W. Greenwood,, of .Ashburton, went to a school there to deliver a no-license address. Just before 8 p.m. heavy rain set in. Some 25 men had assembled and the meeting went.on, some staying 'outside. Immediately the addresses began, disorder arose and finally the meeting had to be closed.
A horse had disappeared, a trap had been tampered with and fouled, and Mr. Mann's name cut into the front board in large letters. A number of boulders were thrown, but missed the mark fortunately. The clergymen had to make their way across paddocks to a local J.P.'s residence and got wet through The horse was found on Thursday on the road.
