TARANAKI HOSPITAL BOARD
am J MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday morning, when there were present: Messrs F. C. Bellringer (chairman), G. W. Browne, Outfield. E. Maxwell, M. J. Mcßeynolds, D. McAllum, J. R. Hill, G. V. Tate, A. H. Halcombe, and D. H. McDonald. MEDTCAL REPORT. Mr. D. S. Wylie, F.R.C.S., medical superintendent, reported that during the month 35 patients had been admitted to the Hospital, 30 had been discharged, three had died, and there were now 39 remaining in the institution. OLD PEOPLE'S HOME. Mm. Bayly, matron of the Old People's Home, reported that everything Iliad been satisfactory during the' month and discipline had been good. There had been one admission, one departure and one death, and there were now in the Home 23 males and nine females. INSPECTOR'S REPORT. Mr. A. H. Kendall, inspector, reported that he had during the month superintended the metalling of the road at the Old People's Home and the construction of three cattle troughs in the paddocks. The metalling had been hung up for a time owing to the break-down of one of the waggons. He had also visited Inglewood and Waitara on several occasions and inspected premises where food was j sold or prepared for sale, and had in- | spected the plan.s of a proposed new bake-house. One ease of scarletina and two cases of tuberculosis were notified during the month. Premises in which , diplitheria had existed were disinfected. He had visited and reported upon the premises which were occupied by a charitable aid patient at Inglewood.' ELECTION OF MEMBERS. Mr. G. W. Rogers, returnig officer for the Egmont County Council, notified the return of Messrs E. Maxwell and M. t T. Mcßeynolds; Mr. H. E. Vaughan (Clifton County Council) the return of Mr. A. H. Halcombe; and Mr. R. Ellis (Taranaki County Council), Messrs J. Brown, G. V. Tate, J. R. HiH- a-nd D. McAlhtrn. j
The chairman welcomed the ( new members (Messrs D. McAHum and A. XKW HOSPITAL SITE. Tenders were received for the excavation of the new hospital site. It was. however, resolved that as all the tenders were considerably in excess of the engineer's estimate no tender be accepted. The chairman was empowered to arrange for the work. CONSUMPTIVE IMMIGRANTS. Dr. Valintine, Tnspeetor-fleneral of Hospitals, asked to be informed if any person suffering from consumption who had sought treatment, at the hospital within one year of arrival in the Dominion. Members wanted to know what the Department could do in the ma iter. The chairman pointed out that they I would probably insist on more rigid inI spec-lion at the shipping end. I Inspector Kendall will report on all | cases both inside and outside the Hos- | pital. GENERAL. ' The chairman, Messrs J. Brown, f}. j W. Browne. D. IT. McDonald and W. j Outfield were appointed a house committee for the year.
The Treasury forwarded the sum of £(i2B 4s 3d, being subsidy on donations and contributions. The Stratford Board wrote asking if temporary provision had been made for incurable patients from the Stratford and Hawera districts. —To be informed that no accommodation is available at present, but will probably be at no distant date, when they will be called together to arrange scale of charges. Accounts to the value of £054 17s lOd were pissed for payment.
