THE INSURANCE BILL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London. November 14. Mr. Acland, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, speaking at Hackney, declared that if the Government was able to reduce naval expenditure it could finance the Insurance Bill without increasing taxation Mr. Lloyd-George has introduced an' amendment providing separate commissioners for the insurance fund in Ireland. IRISH AMENDMENTS. Received 13. 10 p.m. London, November 15. In the House of Commons' the Irish amendment to the Insurance Bill was adopted. It provided for reduced contributions from empoyers and workmen, but those insured will not be entitled to medical benefits. Mr. O'Brien moved the postponement of the operation of the amendment for two years, and declared it aimed at benefiting the Hibernian Society exclusively. The motion was rejected. Mr. O'Brien's efforts to exclude from approved societies and organisations limited to particular religions caused an angry Nationalist demonstration. This also was negatived. The Grand Committee of the Insurance Bill adopted Mr. Buxton's amendment providing for the technical education of unskilled workmen. THE EDUCATION BILL. Received 15, 10 p.m. London. November 15. A meeting of non-conformist members of the House of Commons resolved to urge the introduction of the Education Bill next session.
