A manifesto issued by the Auckland Ministers' Association, dealing with the objects of tho New Zealand Sports Protection League, was read in a 1! the Protestant churches on funday. The manifesto states that the league is fighting for the restitution of bookmakers, the extension of the. cik-c of the l.ntnlisator and betting, and 'the multiplication of racing days. It would go even further, and extend the tot_e permits to coursing matches. It adds that football, cricket, hockey, golf and other amateur sports mifht easily follow in the extension. The manifesto j appeals to church people to vote only ' for Parliamentary cnulidates who give ! definite and satisfactory answers on the subjects of the abolition of betting .mil | gambling, the maintaining of Sunday as a day of rest, and the prohibition of ] • rize fights. i
