Paul's cabled statement, declared that he was speaking about matters he did not understand. Thfre was a type of pampered, narrow-minded clerics, who were getting the church into disrepute. The unionists were fighting for better conditions. BISHOPS' CONDEMNATION. Received 13, 11.10 p.m. London, November IS. The bishops of Welldon and Birmingham condemn Dean Inge's pessimism. The former asserts that there is no reason why the church should not be allied I<> a democracy which tends to secure -the greatest happiness for the greatest |Mmber.
