ALLEGED CARGO BROACHING.

MEX COMMTTED FOR TIITAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Police Court, to-day, eight wharf laborers elected to be tried by a jury on a charge of tluft of 221bs of tobacco from the steamer Moana on October 27. Evidence to the effect that tho cases were in good order when stowed at Melbourne was given. On discharging at Wellington a case was found damaged and tobacco missing. Accused were working in the hold, and when being searched one (Young) dropped a plug of tobacco on the floor. All defendants were committed for trial.
