METROPOLITAN SHOW. By Telegraph—Press Association. Chrislchurch, Last Night. The Canterbury A. and P. Association's metropolitan show at Addington opened to-day in favorable weather. As is the general rule, the day was devottd principally to preparatory work. Nevertheless, there was a fairly large attendance of the general public. The displays in tents were quite as numerous at at previous -Iter's and quite as varied. Only a, few head of stock arrived on the grounds to-day, but the indications are that in respect to stock the show will be quite equal to former displays. The entries this year are slightly below, those of hist- year,' this-being, due largely to the unfavorable season prejudicing the sheep classes,., ' ■ . Details of the entries for the two years are- giy.en below: —Farmers' judging competitions, 1911, 30; 1,010 38;' sheep, 1004 (1052); cattle, 178 (215); horses, 501 (504); pigs, 01 (75); dogs, 10 (19); dairy produce, etc., 185 (101); totals, 2017 (2154). To-day implements and machinery were judged. To-morrow several competitions will be decid«d, and the stock | will bo judged. j
