KATCRDAY'S 1110 RACK. NKWSPAPKR DESGRTPT TONS. By Cubic—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, November 0. Describing the Derby, the Herald says: The line was quickly broken by Posio. Durdan and Cisco, while Crown Grant, Wilari and Jacamar were among the slowest to find their legs. Going out of the straight Jacamar got a bump which did not improve his chances. Opening up the river stretch the leading division comprised Posio, Durdan and Woolerina. | The last-named ran past Posio at the I nine furlongs, and Posio faded out after passing the bridge. Woolerina took the lead along the back to the sheds, where Radiator, Jacamar and Plaith were his nearest attendants. Meantime Wilari wws gradually working his way from the rear, and as Posadas and Woolerina swung into the home stretch Jacamar, Cisco, Radiator and Crown Grant were in hot pursuit, with Wilari coming through in fine style. Nearing the distance Jacamar forged in front, and his victory was loudly proclaimed. Inside

j Pukewiu i.i. I MELBOURNE OUP. (By "Moturoa.") , The Victorian Racing Club's spring ' meeting will be continued at 'Flemington to-day, the principal race being the Melbourne Cup. Latest advices from Australia state that Comedy King and Trafalgar. last year's- heroes, were best baxilced for the Cup, but Oadonia, .Taca mar and Bridge had many followers. Saturday's running should serve to send Trafalgar out a hot favorite, and the chances of Cisco and Jacaniar look blighter. New Zealanders will be mostly interested in the running of Bridge, whose brilliant victory in last year's New Zealand Cup is still fresh in the minds of all. Trafalgar was giving away nearly two stone to Comedy King when beaten by a neck last year, and now that the old: champion is in form and only 23bs separate the pair, jt looks any odds on Trafalgar 'beating Cbinedy King this time, Bridge won the New Zealand tiup in 3min -£> sec, as against Apologue's J»3min 27sec —the Melbourne (.Hip record, i To-day's field includes two previous winI ners, Lord Nolan (1908) and Comedy King (1910). Carbine holds the'weight I record, having carried lOst 311) to the front in 1890. Other big feats were the victories of Malve (9.9), Patron (9.3), •and The Grafter (9.2), but since the tatter's victory the light-weigh tsi have had most to say in the settlement of tlie big race.
