Development, lias taken place in the dispute between Uie Merchant Service Guild and tlie Shipowners' Federation. A meeting wa.s held to-day, and the owners' proposals were considered, but nothing definite was done, as a majority of the mates voted against the proposal. Tlu> : masters have stated their intention of resuming work tomorrow, and some reported themselves this evening as ready to rejoin their vessels. The mates decline to resume. Another meeting of the Guild will be held to-morrow to consider the position. BOATS RESUME RUNXIKG. Kelson. List Night. The Anchor Company received intimation on Sunday of the possibility of a > settlement in regard to two of their ships, which have resumed, and the crews were assembled awaiting a definite statement. About six o'clock this evening it was ofiicially announced that the Kaitoa and Nikau would sail for Wellington, and the vessels left an hour later, The manager of the company, when questioned this evening as to indications of settlement of the coastal strike, said lie could make no official announcement whatever.
