With a district so renowned in dairying it is only natural to expect to see well-bred cattle. Tarainiki breeders are daily on the look-out for the very best in dairy stock, and tremendous prices have been given for pedigree animals. Though Jersey is yet tho predominant breed, the Ayrshire and Holstein cattle are getting a strong footing, and the show next week, especially of Jerseys and Ayrshires, will bo an exceptionally fine one. A solid silver challenge cup, donated by the N.Z. Shipping Co., Ltd., is being keenly competed for. To the stud breeders there is no finer market than that at Hawera, and next week's fixture will undoubtedly occupy the attention of all wide-awake men.
