ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
i i COMMITTEE MEETING. ! 1 A meeting of the committee of the I . Taranuki Acclimatisation Society was I held lust evening, when several import-/ ant measures were discussed. The question of "l>u]ly" ■fishing was dealt with and it was pointed out that if the Waiwakailro and Waiau streams are to become good 'fishing waters this kind of bait should not be used, especially in the daytime. No stringent action will be taken this season to prevent "bully" fishing in these streams but probably next year these rivers will be gazetted as "fly" streams only. In the meantime the committee feels certain that anglers will be pleased to fish in a manner that will be most conducive to good fishing for all anglers. A letter was received from a firm of sawmillers requesting that they be allowed to deposit sawdust in a trout stream. The secretavy was instructed to reply that legislation was already on the Statute Book making it a serious offence for any person to place sawdust or any other deleterious matter in a stream where trout had been liberated. So far encouraging reports have been received by the association for this season's fishing, and some good bags have been recorded.
