"SERGEANT BRUE." That New Plymouth theatregoers are devoted lovers of comic opera lias been abundantly manifested on many occasions—some quite recent—which is evidently tho reason for the influz of comic opera attractions with which we are threatened. First and foremost, Messrs. Clarke and Meynell under whose regime "The Arcadians" toured the Dominion, are to present their new English Comic Opera. Company in "Sergeant Brue," for one night only in the Theatre Royal on Thursday next, November 9. "Sergeant Brue" is described as a comic opera in which . beautiful scenery, bright sparkling music, witty comedy and amusing complications abound. The principals of the company are distinguished comic opera artists from London, each one of whom was specially engaged to fit his or her part. Messrs. Tom Graves, Percy Clifton and Frank Lincoln are the principal comedians; Mr. Frank OakdcnBrookes, baritone; Mr. David Jefferson, tenor; Miss Florence Imeson, prima donna; Miss Nell Finnis, soubrette; Miss Nellie Cozens, character comedienne; Miss Olive Jahn, ingenue; and they will be supported by a strong company of subsidiary part players, dancers, choristers and show girls. A full orchestra of seventeen instruments will be conducted by Mr. F. Wynne-Jones, and the production generally will be quite up to the Clarke-Meynell standard, which really is all that need be said. The box plan for this one and only New Plymouth performance will be opened at Collier's at 9 a.m. on Monday next.

RICKARDS, TIVOLI THEATRE. A good deal of interest centres in the first appearance in New Plymouth of the Rickards' Vaudeville Co., which will appear at the Theatre Royal on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Of all the companies the firm of Harry Rickards has sent to the Dominion the present one is said to be the most successful both artistically and financially. The Auckland season has been a record one, and on many nights would-.be patrons could ■ I not obtain admittance to the theatre in .consequence of the 6ale of tickets havI ing been stopped long before the rising ,of the curtain. Judging by the advance sale of tickets at Collier's, a large house will greet the company on its appearance > in our town. With the names prominent'ly features such as Binns and Binni, i Clarke and Mostol, Sydney Bach, Carlson Max, Fanny Powers, Camille Corni wall, Tom Dawson and others, an enjoyable entertainment should he submitted. ! =====
