A SAD CARE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, Yesterday. The body of a young woman '27 years of age was found on the beach early this morning, and was subsequently identilied as that of a domestic named Bertha Rapley. The body had nothing on it but a nightdress, but further along the beach was a cloak and footprints indicating that she, had deliberately walked into the sea . A letter found where she was employed stated that she had "brought disgrace on them all and had better' end it." A WARNING TO J [OTHERS. T.imaru, La-t Night. "One of those unfortunate cases in which a mother had overlain her child," was the coroner's remarks to-day on recording a verdict of accidental death at an inquest on an infant three weeks old. THE SEA GIVES UP ITS DEAD. Palmerston N., Last Night. The body of Leslie Robert, aged IS, one of the victims of the recent boating tragedy at Foxton, was found on Otaki beach to-day. All the bodies of the eight victims have now been recovered, YOUTH'S SHOCKING DEATH. Invereargill, Last Night. A youth named Parsons, 17 years of age, was caught in machinery at Greenhill's quarry and shockingly mutilated. He died in a few hours. His parents reside at the Bluff. AN OLD MAN'S SUICIDE. Dunedin, Last Night. An old age pensioner named Jas. Critchficld, aged 73 years, residing with his wife at Cavershnni, committed suicide this afternoon by banging himself in a shed at the rear of his dwelling. Apparently he had been worrying about some property transactions in which he was engaged, but not to the extent to lead to any apprehension. At 3 o'clock he went to the Caversham post office to get his pension, and at 3.30 his wife saw him going in the direction of the shed. The body was discovered at 5 o'clock.

MAN KNOCKED DOWN AND DIES. , Wellington, Last Night. About 10.30 o'clock on Tuesday evening a man named George Guntlier was taken to the hospital suffering from the effects of an injury supposed to have been caused by being knocked down by another man near the corner of Willis and Manners streets. When admitted to the hospital, Gunther was unconscious. In that condition he remained until 3 o'clock this afternoon, when he died. Gunther was a station hand and belonged to Masterton, but recently he had been working at Pongaroa. Deceased's mother, who at present is very ill, and a brother reside at Marton. The police are making inquiries for the man who is supposed to have been responsible for the mishap to Gunther. An inquest will be held tomorrow.
