Received 2. 12.5 a.m. London, November I. The rnilwavmen have issued a manifesto for presentation to the companies, demanding improved conditions and wages. RAILWAYMEN'S UNIONS CONFER. Received 2, 12.10 a.m. London, November 1. The executive committee of four of the railwaymen's unions begin to-day to discuss the commission's finding. LABOR OONGRESS. " PEACEFUL PICKETING." Received 2, 12.5 a.m. London, November 1. The annual report presented to the National Free Labor Congress hinted that the Association would run its own candidates for election. While discussing the amendment to the "peaceful picketing' clause, the congress notified that a hundred of its members had been virtually imprisoned at the Gravesend Cable Works for protection against the violence of "peaceful picketers." BRITISH TRADES DISPUTES. Received 2. 12.5 a.m. London. November 1. The Times, commenting on Mr. Asquith's refusal to amend the Trades Disputes Act, accepts his answer as indicative that a more energetic and effective enforcement of the existing law is perfectly possible. TAXI-CABMEN. THREATEN TO "GO OUT." Received 2, 12.10 a.m. London, November 1. Six hundred taxi-cab drivers in London struck, in sympathy with a comrade who was not allowed to take out cabs on the ground that he was withholding from the proprietor the extras received in respect of two boxes. The allegation was denied, and 7000 drivers threaten to strike.
