TRAINS COLLIDE

RAILWAY COLLISION. By Cable—Press Association— I Copyright. Sydney, November 1. A mail and a stock train had a headon collision at Picton Lakes through the stock train leaving the rails. The driver and fireman of one of the trains were seriously injured, and six passengers less severely hurt. The engines were badly damaged, and a dozen trucks left the fails. INJURY AND PANIC. SHEEP KILLED AND MANGLED. Received 1. 8.25 p.m. Sydney, November 1. An accident was caused to a stock train while shunting on to a loop line to allow the Melbourne-Sydney mail to pass over the shooting points. Just as the mail approached, the sound of an impact roused the residents, who were quickly on the scene, and rendered assistance.

There was great excitement among the passengers till the doors were unlocked and they were released.

Altogether nine were injured, mostly from shock and bruises. One was removed to the hospital, and the others proceeded to their homes after medical attention.

The traffic was blocked for many hours. Several shepp trucks were smashed, and a large number of animals were killed and mangled . Three engines and other rolling stock were damaged.
