N.S.W. (BY-ELECTION. iiy Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, October 31. The returns for Liverpool Plains election give Mr. Ashford a majority of 514. Possibly a few postal votes are to come. SPLIT AMONG THE DEMOCRATS. Sydney, October SI. Four out of six members of Parliament of the Democratic Party have resigned from the party owing to difference of opinion regarding the advisability of contesting the Maitland seat against the Government and Opposition candidates. The seceding members state that if there ave to be no triangular contests the carrying on of the party amounts to a farce.
