THE EGMONT SHOW.

THE SHEEP AND PIG CLASSES. 1 Though a recognised dairying country, the sheep shown at llawera are always ' of the very best type. Breeders olf sheep in the hilly country have excellent' land for farming wool, and the sheep always come in very healthy and strong. The country has great inducements for sheep breeders, and some good (locks are being established. The classes this year promise to be well contested. In the purebred classes Messrs. Bennett and Sutton's trophy will be again competed for (most points), to be won three times before becoming the property of the exhibitor. Mr. W. 11. Wybourne. Whenunkura. is the present holder of the cup. This show is notrtd for its fat sheep and freezers' classes. Messrs Levin and Co.'s silver cup is a points prize fox- these classes, to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. Mr. Hugh Middleton, of Waverlcy, is the present holder. The most attractive class of all is the one for five lambs (long or short wool), in which there were 1!) entries last year. In this section the exhibits receiving first, second and third awards shall be killed for export and sent to London, so that they can be reported on there. The prize money is £7 7s for first, £3 3s second and £1 10s third. The pigs shown at llawera are of the highest quality. New pig pens have .been built this year on quite a new style, and | they are probably the finest show pens j in the Dominion. Championship prizes are offered for the Berkshire boar and sow. Intending exhibitors in all classes are! reminded that general entries close on Satuiflay next, 28th October. Schedules and all information still obtainable on , application to the secretary (Mr. F.
